Film Styles?

Film Styles is an introductory course that exposes students to a variety of film types, focusing on the social and expressive mechanisms of style.  In particular, we will explore film via the rubric of genre, considering some of the social and historical factors that contribute to the establishment and changing of generic codes and conventions.  Additionally, we’ll discuss the notions of signature and period style and film movements such as film noir, New Wave and postmodernism.
